There is a car park located at the foot of the hill where the Monument stands, just off the A91.

The National Wallace Monument commemorates Sir William Wallace. You can read a fuller account of his life here, but in essence he was one of the very few who consistently opposed the efforts of King Edward I of England to impose his will, and ultimately his supremacy, over Scotland and the Scots in the years around 1300.

The National Wallace Monument is an impressive piece of architecture, standing at over 67 meters tall. The monument is designed in the Victorian Gothic style, with a central tower and four smaller towers surrounding it. The tower is made of sandstone, and it is adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures that depict scenes from Scottish history.
